We’re looking for a strong Mid-Level Backend Engineer with a focus on cloud architecture and execution, who is excited to work in the evolving space of AI-powered systems.
In this role, you will build the “hands” of AI agents—designing the tools they use and the cloud environments where they operate. You will be responsible for exposing business functionalities as secure, structured “tools” that LLMs can reliably invoke within a scalable AWS infrastructure.
You understand the difference between a simple prompt and a structured function call, and you know how to deploy resilient, production-ready systems that are secure, observable, and cost-efficient.
Responsibilities
Serverless Architecture
Design and deploy scalable, low-latency APIs using Amazon API Gateway and AWS Lambda to handle agent-driven requests.Secure Tool Development
Build tools that enable agents to interact with databases and external services, enforcing least-privilege access through well-defined AWS IAM policies.AI Data Engineering (RAG pipelines)
Clean, structure, and process data for ingestion into vector databases, using event-driven ETL pipelines (e.g., AWS Glue, S3-triggered Lambdas).Observability & Cost Optimization
Monitor systems using CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray, tracking not only system performance but also token usage and cloud costs.Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Automate infrastructure deployment using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform, ensuring reproducible environments across development and production.Database Optimization
Optimize SQL queries and data models in RDS or Aurora Serverless for performance and scalability.
Requirements
Experience3–5 years of experience in backend development, cloud engineering, or similar roles
Proven experience building and deploying production-grade systems on AWS
Backend & ProgrammingStrong proficiency in Python
Experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend services
Solid understanding of software architecture and system design principles
Cloud & Serverless (AWS)Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven architectures
Experience working with ECS/Fargate for long-running processes is a plus
Strong understanding of cloud-native and serverless architectures
AI & Modern Backend ConceptsExperience integrating LLMs (e.g., OpenAI API) into backend systems
Understanding of RAG pipelines, function calling, and structured outputs
Ability to design backend systems that support AI agents and tooling
Data & DatabasesStrong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (RDS, Aurora)
Experience with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB)
Familiarity with data pipelines / ETL processes
SecurityExperience implementing secure backend systems
Strong understanding of AWS IAM, roles, and least-privilege principles
DevOps & InfrastructureExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation)
Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline)
Observability & PerformanceExperience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray)
Ability to analyze and optimize performance, latency, and cloud costs
